Instructors

Our team of Instructors are long-time students of Lama Jampa Thaye.

Howard Quinn

Yorkshire Dechen Coordinator

Prior to attending Hollins College Manchester and working for the NHS and the Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester, I served for some years in the Merchant Navy.

Now retired, alongside Bobbi and Tricia I organise the activities of the regional groups and the Harrogate centre.

Bobbi Jefferson

Yorkshire Dechen Coordinator

After a career teaching art, design and textiles I currently enjoy working for a major supermarket. As one of the Coordinators for Yorkshire Dechen I help facilitate the centres meditation sessions and Dharma study groups.

Keith Shaw

Keith Shaw

I have been leading the Ilkley Dechen Group since it began in 2010 as an instructor of meditation and Buddhist study.

Now retired, I was a secondary school teacher for over forty years in a variety of educational settings. Along with my wife Jane we have three lovely daughters and five energetic young grandchildren! From our 18th century farmhouse high up on the moors in Ilkley we run Buddhist meditation retreats. I am very much an outdoor person and enjoy walking, rock climbing and mountaineering.

Simon Rowan

Simon has been practicing Buddhism for over forty years and is traditionally trained in the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.  Whilst his principal teacher is Lama Jampa Thaye, he has also received teachings from His Holiness Karmapa Thinley Thaye Dorje and Karma Thinley Rinpoche along with other Buddhist masters.

Simon has led Buddhist meditation and study groups for a number of years in Manchester, Colne and Hebden Bridge. He spent many years working in education and although retired he enjoys looking after his grandchildren on a regular basis.
