Update from Nepal

Today, 21 October, a 3-day long-life ritual has begun in the temple of Tegchen Legshey Ling , which is Karma Thinley Rinpoche’s monastery in Nepal. It is being conducted by four senior monks, led by the Sakya tulku Khedrup Gyamtso. One of the nuns is also in attendance acting as Cho-pon, shrine master.

The ritual is the extended ritual of the long-life Buddha called Amitayus (Tib: Tsepame) in special father-mother form, and in this case is being dedicated to the continuing good health and long life of Lama Jampa Thaye. The last day of the ritual coincides with Lama Jampa’s birthday, and by auspicious coincidence the second day is also the eighth day of the Tibetan calendar, which is deemed most efficacious for all kinds of long-life practices.
